WHAT IS A CAVE OR CAVERN?
A cave is a natural cavity in the ground which is large enough for a human to enter and includes areas where it is completely dark such that no photon of light can penetrate. This is called "total darkness." Caverns also contain rock formations or speleothems which are created by dripping water depositing small amounts of calcite or other minerals over thousands of years, developing into stalactites, stalagmites and many other strange & beautiful decorations.
